David Frizzell

Biography:

With the January 2005 release of his 12th solo album titled Confidentially, David Frizzell is preparing to renew many of his acquaintances at radio and hit the road playing show dates throughout the country and around the world. A new management and booking team will keep him busy for the next 14 months promoting the new album release and subsequent singles.

Confidentially, produced by David Frizzell and released on David's own Nashville America Records label, features guest performances by Jimmy Fortune (Statler Brothers), John Cowan (New Grass Revival), as well as his first male/female duet in more than 10 years, with Amy Clawson on one of David's songs titled "Why Wasn't It Me," a song with lots of radio potential. The second single from the project, "Warm Spanish Wine" shipped to radio in November.

FRIZZELL is a name that is synonymous with country music royalty, and as a teenager, David Frizzell left home to join his legendary brother Lefty Frizzell on the road touring with many of the great names in country music. Before his 18th birthday, David was recording country and rockabilly albums for Columbia Records, which was briefly interrupted by a four year hitch in the military. After his discharge, he was immediately re-signed to Columbia.

The road David was destined to travel was not always easy, having to follow in the shadow of such a famous brother. However, David broke out and started creating his own identity as an artist in the years to come. He recorded the first country version of "L.A. International Airport" and "I Just Can't Help Believing" and developed a reputation as a Las Vegas headliner, opening the gates in that entertainment capital for many other country artists to follow.

David Frizzell founded the highly successful partnership of Frizzell & West that included the very talented Shelly West, daughter of another famous name in country music, Dottie West. After recording the song "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma" and having every major label turn them down, record producer Snuff Garrett played the song for Clint Eastwood.

Upon Eastwood's insistence to add the song to the soundtrack of his forthcoming film Any Which Way You Can, a small radio station in Tulare, California was the first to play it as an album track. Other stations quickly followed suit, prompting the song's release as a single. In short order, the song that nobody wanted became a smash hit. Frizzell & West went on to enjoy success as one of the hottest duet acts on the road, recording five albums together, winning awards, amassing more hit records and selling out major arenas worldwide.

During the duet years with Shelly West, David continued on with his solo career and scored a huge chart topping hit with "I'm Gonna Hire A Wino To Decorate Our Home." The record, which is still a classic standard today, was recently featured on CMT's "40 Greatest Drinking Songs in Country Music."

David has been awarded just about every major piece of hardware available in country music including multiple Country Music Association Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, Billboard and Music City News Awards, as well as being nominated for three Grammy Awards both as part of the popular Frizzell & West duet and as a solo artist.

2005 begins a new era of music and touring among the Frizzell family dynasty. David Frizzell, armed with a new CD, is also working on additional projects including a television tribute to his brother Lefty, and children's recordings and books, projects that promise to keep the prolific artist, producer, writer and performer busier than ever.
