Biography

A Grand Ole Opry Member since 1967 and native of Maryville, Tennessee. Jack's first job was on WGAP Radio in Maryville. He worked 8 years with the Peachtree Cowboys out of Atlanta, Georgia. In 1962 Jack become the drummer for the late Ernest Tubb in the Texas Troubadour Band. Touring all over the United Slates for 5 years with E.T., Jack began to develop a following of fans with his great style of music.

Jack's smooth, dear, and dynamic voice brought him his first number one record in 1966 "There Goes My Everything" followed by "All The Time". People refer to 1967 as, "The Jack Greene Year with the CMA." That was the year he won awards for "Single of the Year," "Album of the Year," "Male Vocalist of the Year~' and "There Goes My Everything" won Song of the Year.

That was just the beginning for Jack. He has since then received several awards and award nominations. including several for Grammy awards. Billboard Magazine voted Jack to be #98 in the Top 200 Most Played Artist for 40 years. Jack was placed in the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame In 1989. He received the Living Legend Award, dunng the Major Independent Record Label, Country Music Award Show. Associated Press dd a recent article on Jack Greene, in which they sad "Greene was the Garth Brooks of his era" Jack had nine #1 hits while recording for Decca Records and MCA Records. These induded "There Goes My Everything," "What Locks The Door," "You Are My Treasure," "Until My Dreams Come True," "Back In The Arms Of Love," " Love Takes Care Of Me," "Lord, Is That Me?' and "Statue Of A Fool" Greene had two #1 albums; one stayed at the top of the charts for a year. Today, he records for Step one.

A big part of Jack's career has included the Radio. He has done commercials for Purina Dog Food, Coca Cola, The Voice of Opryland and you'll hear him regularly on the Grand Ole Opry. Jack Greene is often seen on TV Shows such as "Hee Haw," "Nashville Now," "Crook & Chase," "Music City News Awards," "Grand Ole Opry Backstage," "Music City Tonight" "The Grand Ole Opry Uve" and "TBN Network" along with other top rated TV shows.
