Shelly Rann

Biography:

The State of Kentucky has produced some of the biggest names in country music and hailing from the music-rich soil of Lexington, Shelly Rann, will be added to that list of legends. Shelly Rann is a singer/songwriter that combines the unmatched talent of a young, but seasoned vocalist possessing a striking stage presence with a deep-rooted, heartfelt flare for songwriting that is uniquely her own. She's that good.

Shelly Rann has been recognized for her dynamic abilities by many of Nashville's top producers and publishers and she has written with Grammy winning writers, Charlie Black and Austin Roberts. Shelly has also written with some of Nashville's best including Larry Bastian, Kent Blazy, Mark Nessler, Sammy Harp, Charlie Craig, and Gary Burr. Many of Shelly's best songs come from her own pen. Like many top-notch vocalists, she's leaned how to write songs that singers love to sing. The NBC network has acknowledged Shelly's songwriting gifts by using her songs on the award-winning prime times shows The West Wing and Third Watch.

Even in Nashville, where the streets team with singers and pickers and talent seems to be one of the basic elements, Shelly stands apart. Her voice is an astonishing instrument, effortlessly spiraling from an emotion-choked whisper to a hallelujah of gale-force might. We hear echoes of Trisha Yearwood's countrified majesty and Crystal Gayle's jazzy seductiveness, combined with a hint of Tina Turner's R&B fire and steeped in the earthy soulfullness of Shelly's native state. But, ultimately, what we hear is pure Shelly Rann, combining all of her varied influences into a rare originality that, once heard, won't ever be forgotten.

Shelly maintains a huge following all across the state of Kentucky and she has sold more than 10,000 copies of her own independently producing cds to date. Shelly has had the privilege of opening up for some great entertainers like Keith Whitley, Waylon Jennings, Trace Adkins, and Vern Gosdin. She has also preformed a duet with Roy Clark at his theater in Branson, Mo. which was filmed for her video documentary.

Shelly Rann is now gaining critical acclaim for her outstanding live performances. Once touring casinos, state fairs, and festivals, Shelly is now here in Nashville performing weekly and focusing mainly on songwriting. Shelly also made country music history by being the only female artist at Alabama's Final June Jam, performing before a capacity crowd of nearly 60,000.

"Music is a responsibility as much as it is a gift," says Shelly. She exudes that honesty with every song she writes and every performance she gives. One time viewing a Shelly Rann performance, you'll feel it and see it and ultimately be hooked on her. A natural beauty, music running through her veins, and blessed with a keen sense of humor, Shelly Rann has what the industry likes to call "the whole package." There is a new star shining from the Bluegrass State and she's just what we've wished for - Shelly Rann.
